The snowstorm meant the jazz DJ before me didn’t show up at all. So I got in a little early to play a little something for that audience, leading into Friday Morning Rock. The 80th anniversary of Sam Cooke’s birth on Saturday gave occasion to play nearly an hour of his best stuff, topped by some Springsteen.

Some new stuff by Interpol, Best Coast, The Decemberists, Jonathan Richman and The Concretes, as well as a couple of discs I got for Christmas, including The Tallest Man on Earth and a Bear Family collection of George Jones with Gene Pitney. closed with some Stones and some Elvis Costello.

What I played Friday morning follows. To listen to it all, go here.
