In the rush of nominations this week for awards next year, “Homeland” was an early, if predictable, front-runner, leading all of the Golden Globe nominees, announced this morning, with four, including best drama.

Wednesday, it led TV nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, with four, after being overlooked altogether last year.
Behind the lead of “Homeland” among Golden Globe nominees, “Downton Abbey” is just behind it with three. Other best drama nominees are “BoardwalkEmpire,” newcomer “the Newsroom” and, for the first time in the category, “Breaking Bad.” (Missing? “Mad Men” for one).

“Smash” was a surprise entry in the “comedy or musical” category of the Golden Globes against “Modern Family,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Episodes” and “Girls.”
Both Claire Danes and Damian Lewis of “Homeland” are nominated in the lead acting drama categories; Mandy Patinkin up in supporting actor.
Other nominated lead actors are Steve Buscemi of “Boardwalk Empire,” Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad,” Jeff Daniels of “The Newsroom,” and Jon Hamm of “Mad Men.”
Nominated lead actresses are Connie Britton of “Nashville,” Glenn Close of “Damages” (seen only on DirecTV), Julianna Marguilies of “The Good Wife” and Michelle Dockery of “Downton Abbey.”
In comedies, Zooey Deschanel of “New Girl” and Lena Dunham of “Girls” join Tina Fey of “30 Rock,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep” and Amy Poehler in “Parks and Recreation.”
Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock” is up again for actors in a comedy against Don Cheadle of “House of Lies,” Louis C.K. of “Louie,” Matt LeBlanc in “Episodes” and Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory.”
HBO got the most nominations overall, 17, thanks largely to its production of TV movies, which accounted for 10 of them. Its “Game Change,” had the most TV nominations overall with five; the film “The Girl” got three; they were up for best miniseries or movie against “The Hour,” “Political Animals” and “Hatfield & McCoys.”
In the SAG Award nominations, “Homeland” will be up against “Boardwalk Empire,” “Breaking Bad, “Downton Abbey” and “Mad Men” for ensemble casts.
Danes is nominated leading actress against Jessica Lange for “American Horror Story,” Michelle Dockery and Maggie Smith, both of “Downton Abbey”; and Julianna Margulies, “The Good Wife.”
Lewis is up against Buscemi, Cranston, Daniels and Hamm — the same nominess as in the Gold Globe category.
The SAG comedy actor category, like the Globes, has Baldwin, Louis C.K. and Parsons, but adds two from “Modern Family,” Ty Burrell and Eric Stonestreet.
Among actresses nominated in comedies, Betty White of “Hot in Cleveland’ will be up against Edie Falco of “Nurse Jackie,” Tina Fey, Poehler and Sofia Vergara of “Modern Family.”
“Nurse Jackie” was also remembered in ensemble comedies, alongside “Modern Family,” “the BIg Bang Theory,” “Glee,” “The Office” and “30 Rock.”
The Golden Globes air Jan. 13; the SAG Awards are Jan. 27.
