Looking for a new series from the 49th State? “Missing in Alaska” (History, 10 p.m.) looks into the more than 20,000 people who have gone missing in the northwest corner of the state. Some say it’s some sort of mystical reason; more likely it’s just a vast area — or the “lost” people know exactly where they are, far from civilization and the latest Alaskan reality show.

Whatever happened to W. Kamau Bell? The sharp topical comic is back to host a comedy showcase from the SXSW festival that boasts Wyatt Cenac, Todd Glass, Iliza Shlesinger and Rachel Feinstein. It’s called “SXSW Comedy with W. Kamau Bell” (Showtime, 11 p.m.).

Last year’s animated “Big Hero 6” (Starz, 8 p.m.) makes its premium cable debut.

If you’re going to have a series finale, as they are on “The Messengers” (The CW, 9 p.m.), it might as well be against the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
