The struggle is depicted on a new “American Experience” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) titled “The Mine Wars.”

Mountaineers, African Americans migrants and European immigrants banded together in a struggle for their rights, despite decades of violence against any attempts to form a union, culminating in the largest armed insurrection since the Civil War — the Battle of Blair Mountain in 1921. Randall MacLowry produced and directed the two hour documentary.

Jack Black steps away from the release of “Kung Fu Panda 3” to talk about the actual giant panda in China on a special “Panda Republic” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.), which will not include the most arresting panda footage of the week, of the panda at the National Zoo cavorting in the snow.

The debut of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” (The CW, 9 p.m.) gets a repeat after a new episode from another D.C. Comics hero, “The Flash” (The CW, 8 p.m.) in which the Reverse Flash returns.

Meanwhile, in the other superhero comics realm, “Marvel’s Agent Carter” (ABC, 9 p.m.) investigates Zero Matter.

The Radley asylum on “Pretty Little Liars” (Freeform, 9 p.m.) is now a boutique hotel.

Jess has jury duty on “New Girl” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

Jimmy throws an 80s party on “Grandfathered” (Fox, 8:30 p.m.).

Jake and Amy take a cruise on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (Fox, 9 p.m.)

It’s franchise night! With “NCIS” (CBS, 8 p.m.) followed by “NCIS: New Orleans” (CBS, 9 p.m.) — both reruns — and a new “Chicago Med” (NBC, 9 p.m.) followed by “Chicago Fire” (NBC, 10 p.m.).
