RadioCPRI had planned to play big chunks of three artists tonight, but I guess I was surprised that they were all I played.

Ray Charles because there was a White House salute to him on TV when I left home. But it was also the 88th birthday of Fats Domino and would have been the 82nd birthday of Johnny Cash, who died in 2003. Fats Domino may have been the most prolific of the three; he certainly had a lot of great tunes in his past; beyond “Blueberry Hill” and “Blue Monday” were “Don’t Lie to Me,” “All By Myself,” “Whole Lot of Lovin,'” and “I’m Ready,” as well as being one of the best ambassadors of New Orleans.
