CApsPlayoffs are the big thing on network TV tonight with game 5 of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference series of Pittsburgh at Washington (NBC, 7:15 p.m.) opposite game 3 of the NBA’s western conference foes Golden State at Portland (ABC, 8:30 p.m.).

In other Stanley Cup action, it’s St. Louis at Dallas (NBC, 1 p.m.) and Nashville at San Jose (NBC Sports, 10 p.m.) — both also game 5.

The other NBA playoff game has Toronto at Miami (ESPN, 5 p.m.).

The biggest — and shortest — sporting event today is the The Kentucky Derby (NBC, 6:30 p.m.), though network coverage begins at 4 p.m., with still earlier coverage at noon on NBC Sports Network.

Top your Derby day with a replay of the movie “Secretariat” (AMC, 7 p.m.).

In preparation for Mother’s Day, here’s “The Real MVP: The Wanda Durant Story” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) about the Washington mother who raised NBA star Kevin Durant. Cassandra Freeman of “Single Ladies” takes the central role; Queen Latifah produced.

A different kind of tale is told on “A Mother’s Revenge” (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.) about a woman who picks up the wrong bag at an upstate New York airport and is threatened by the man who lost it. With Jamie Luner and Steven Brand. Not to be confused with the 1993 Lifetime movie with Lesley Ann Warren.

Claire is still a wildcard on “Outlander” (Starz, 9 p.m.).

As another Marvel property invades movie theaters, last summer’s “Fantastic Four” (HBO, 8 p.m.) gets a premium cable premiere. More Marvel tonight includes “Thor: The Dark World” (FX, 7:30 p.m.) and “Captain America: The First Avenger” (FX, 10 p.m.).

Also making its debut on premium cable tonight are “Criminal Activities” (Cinemax, 9:55 p.m.) with John Travolta and Jackie Earle Haley, who directed; and last year’s “The D Train” (Showtime, 8 p.m.) about Jack Black’s efforts to get James Marsden to attend their 20 year high school reunion.

“Deadly Possessions” (Travel, 9 p.m.) pokes around the site of Natalie Wood’s death and checks out the suicide assistance van of Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

Bob Crane’s murder is the subject of “Case Closed with AJ Benza” (Reelz, 10 p.m.).

With news this week of a new Ryan Murphy produced FX anthology series “Feud,” pitting Susan Sarandon as Bette Davis and Jessica Lange as Joan Crawford, here’s a few of Davis’ movies from the 1950s, “All About Eve” (TCM, 8 p.m.), “The Catered Affair” (TCM, 10:30 p.m.) and “Another Man’s Poison” (TCM, 12:15 a.m.).

It may be worth it to stay up to see a collection of weird David Lynch shorts that begin with a 1966 cartoon, “Six Men Getting Sick” (TCM, 2 a.m.) whose description is “six cartoon figures vomit repeatedly.” The cornucopia of weird films led up to his first full length release, “Eraserhead” in 1977.

Baseball includes Seattle at Houston (MLB, 7 p.m.) and Tampa Bay at Angels (MLB, 10 p.m.).

In golf, it’s third round play in the Wells Fargo Championship (CBS, 3 p.m.)

Gary Clark Jr. and Courtney Barnett perform a replay of an “Austin City Limits” (PBS, 11 p.m.) from last year.

Brie Larson, Oscar winner for “Room,” hosts a new “Saturday Night Live” (NBC, 1:30 p.m.) with Alicia Keys returning as musical guest.
