Independence Day celebrations on The Mall in Washington on July 4, 2008.The splendor and intensity of fireworks on TV may depend on your home unit. There will not be a shortage of shows blasting them tonight.

In Washington D.C., Tom Bergeron hosts A Capitol Fourth (PBS, 8 and 9:30 p.m.) unfurls on the capitol’s west lawn, with performances by Smokey Robinson, Kenny Loggins, Gavin DeGraw, Amber Riley, Jackie Evancho, Amber Riley, Yolanda Adams, Sutton Foster, Cassadee Pope, Christopher Jackson of the musical “Hamilton,” the cast of the musical “On Your Feet,” Alison Porter, Gen. Colin Powell and the National Symphony Orchestra.

Tamron Hall and Willie Geist co-host the 40th anniversary Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks (NBC, 8 p.m.)  featuring performances from Pitbull, Kenny Chesney, Jennifer Holliday, Meghan Trainor, 5 Seconds of Summer and the Radio City Rockettes.

Nancy O’Dell hosts the 43rd annual Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular (CBS, 8 p.m.) from the Charles River Esplanade, with music from the orchestra conducted by Keith Lockhart, with performances from Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas and Little Big Town.

Less specific to the day for more adhering to the season is the iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party (The CW, 8 p.m.) with Flo Rida, DNCE, Hailee Steinfeld, Tinashe, Likas Graham, Kygo and Jason Derulo.

Fireworks at dates are gratuitous on “The Bachelorette” (ABC, 8 p.m.), which tonight, shockingly, is a repeat of last week’s two hour episode from Buenos Aires.

Oddly, “So You Think You Can Dance” (Fox, 8 p.m.) is a repeat from last week as well.

A whole town in Ontario is dead on the series finale of “Houdini & Doyle” (Fox, 9 p.m.), a series that’s dead as well.

Darius has an overnight date on ‘UnReal” (Lifetime, 10 p.m.).

Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc test a new group of cars on a new “Top Gear” (BBC America, 9 p.m.).

The actor wants to go fast. So on the four-episode “Idris Elba: No Limits” (Discovery, 7 p.m.), he tries street racing, rally driving, power boating and aerobatics. The episodes show back to back tonight.

A July Fourth lineup on Turner Classic Movies tonight has “The Music Man” (8 p.m.), “Yankee Doodle Dandy” (10:45 p.m.), “1776” (1 a.m.) and “Thousands Cheer” (4 a.m.).

Of course someone brings back the original “Independence Day” (HBO, 8 p.m.).

Baseball includes Angels at Tampa Bay (MLB, 2 p.m.), Colorado at San Francisco (ESPN, 4 p.m.) and Detroit at Cleveland (ESPN, 7 p.m.).

Round of 16 play begins at Wimbledon (EPN2, 7 a.m.; ESPN, 8 a.m.).

U.S. Olympic Trials (NBC Sports, 7 p.m.) continue in track and field.

Stage 3 of the Tour de France (NBC Sports, 8 a.m.) leaves Normandy for a Granville to Angers course.

Is this a thing? The NBA Summer League has games that include Orlando White vs. Dallas (NBA, 1 p.m.), Orlando Blue vs. Detroit (NBA, 3 p.m.), Charlotte vs. Oklahoma City (NBA, 5 p.m.), Philadelphia vs. Boston (NBA, 7 p.m.) and San Antonio vs. Utah (NBA, 9 p.m.).
