Started with a salute to Prince Buster, the ska pioneer who died last week at 87, and played some of the second wave ska bands who paid homage to him. Then there was a birthday salute to B.B. King, born on this day in 1925.
A couple of artists are coming to town this week to play classic albums in their entirety — Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins, whose “Rabbit Fur Coat” album is marking its 10th anniversary, and Brian Wilson, who is celebrating the golden anniversary of his masterpiece “Pet Sounds.” We played just about all of that album, with half of the cuts alternate takes.
Played some Matthew Sweet, who plays the area Saturday, and some T. Rex, whose Marc Bolan died in a car wreck on this date in 1977.
