vice-hbo_-640x640Very interested in seeing how the team at “Vice” crafts a nightly half hour newscast, “Vice News Tonight” (HBO, 7:30 p.m.). They are promising short filmed pieces, some animation, and no anchors, five nights a week. Bureaus have been set up in Brooklyn, Washington, San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong and Dubai. Watching it online will allow viewers to click onto graphs or further information on a topic. At the very least it won’t be loaded up with pharmaceutical ads — or any ads at all.

In “From This Day Forward” on “POV” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings), filmmaker Sharon Shattuck looks at her parents, who remained together after her father came out as transgender decades earlier “Supergirl” (The CW, 8 p.m.) has the strength to break a new barrier: networks. After a year on CBS, she makes her debut on a sister network more friendly to superheros. In the second season premiere, cousin Superman makes a visit.

Aislinn Paul stars in a new 10-episode teenage zombie series “Freakish” (Hulu, streaming).

“2 Broke Girls” (CBS, 8 p.m.) begins its sixth season with two episodes. They finally get their Dessert Bar open and Sophie is about to give birth.

Battle rounds begin on “The Voice” (NBC, 8 p.m.) and with them comes the roster of advisers that include Bette Midler, Sammy Hagar, Joan Jett and Charlie Puth.

With both Vanilla Ice and Babyface gone from “Dancing with the Stars” (ABC, 8 p.m.) is down to nine couples for “most memorable year” night.

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” (TBS, 10:30 p.m.) takes a look at Sunday’s presidential debate, as will the other late night shows, including “The Late Late Show with Seth Meyers” (NBC, 12:27 a.m.) which originates from Washington, D.C. this week.

Has “Timeless” (NBC, 10 p.m.) gotten goofy enough for you yet? Tonight they travel to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and get in Ford’s Theatre.

Penguin closes in on the mayoral nomination on “Gotham” (Fox, 8 p.m.).

Sheldon and Any move in together on “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS, 8 p.m.).

Walter gets launched in space by accident on “Scorpion” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

Masika and Fetty Wap spar on “Love & Hip Hop Hollywood” (VH1, 8 p.m.).

“Cake Wars” (Food, 8 p.m.) has an Addams Family challenge.

“The Real Housewives of Orange County” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) fly to Ireland.

“Too Close to Home” (TLC, 9 p.m.) has its first season finale as J.B. catches up to Shelby.

Nicole befriends a male stripper on “Loosely Exactly Nicole” (MTV, 10:30 p.m.).

The month-long Monday night salute to Christopher Lee on Turner Classic Movies continues with “The Face of Fu Manchu” (8 p.m.), “The Brides of Fu Manchu” (10 p.m.) and “The Vengeance of Fu Manchu” (11:45 p.m.) as well as “Nothing but the Night” and “Scream and Scream Again” (3:15 a.m.).

Baseball playoffs today include Washington at Dodgers (TBS, 4 p.m.), Cleveland at Boston (TBS, 6 p.m.) and Cubs at San Francisco (Fox Sports 1, 9 p.m.).

Monday Night Football has Tampa Bay at Carolina (ESPN, 8:15 p.m.).
