“Gotham” (Fox, 8 p.m.) begins its fourth season, inching closer to connecting to the Batman origin story.

It’s accompanied by the Seth MacFarlane space attempt “The Orville” (Fox, 9 p.m.), moving to its regular time slot with its dumbest episode yet.

The British series “Doc Martin” (Acorn, streaming) begins its eighth season online.

American casualties rise on the fifth chapter of “The Vietnam War” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings)  covering the last five months of 1967.

The ninth episode of “The Guest Book” (TBS, 10:30 p.m.) involves an Amish kid on Rumspringa.

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini is one of the guest judges on “Project Runway” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.), where the challenge is street style.

Katy Perry’s choreographer tries to help candidates on “Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team” (CMT, 10 p.m.).

On the new “American Beauty Star” (Lifetime, 10:30 p.m.) hair and makeup people compete in challenges, co-hosted by Adriana Lima.

There have been award winning documentary series and miniseries about the earlier chapter in his life, but the two hour special “O.J.: Guilty in Vegas” (A&E, 9 p.m.) will not likely rank among them when dealing with the incident that got OJ. Simpson in jail.

A beautifully-wrought episode of “Better Things” (FX, 10 p.m.) is a good indicator of its new direction.

A new season of “Nathan for You” doesn’t start until next week. So those whose businesses have been helped in the past by Nathan Fielder’s wild ideas are revisited in “Nathan for You: A Celebration” (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.), a special hosted by Anthony Napoli.

“Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) wraps up its summer season, as does “Zoo” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

Ami prepares to be treated for lung cancer on “Alaskan Bush People” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).

The “Queen of Versailles” Jackie Siegel pops up on “Flipping Out” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

“Mountain Men” (History, 9 p.m.) ends its sixth season with a pair of episodes.

Thursday Night Football has Rams at San Francisco (NFL, 8:25 p.m.).

Baseball includes Dodgers at Philadelphia (MLB, 1 p.m.), Cleveland at Angels (MLB, 4 p.m.), Minnesota at Detroit (Fox Sports 1, 7 p.m.) and Cubs at Milwaukee (MLB, 8 p.m.).

College football has Temple at South Florida (ESPN, 7:30 p.m.) and South Carolina State at North Carolina Central (ESPNU, 7:30 p.m.).
