Saturday TV: The College World Series

CWSCan’t say there’s much new on TV today, but the College World Series begins in Omaha with a couple of games, North Carolina at Oregon State (ESPN, 3 p.m.) and Washington vs. Mississippi State (ESPN, 8 p.m.).

Add to the number of Saturday night animal shows one from a judge on “America’s Got Talent.” “Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things” (Nat Geo Wild, 9 p.m.), is a kind of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” (ABC, 8 p.m.) for pets.

On the made for TV “Love at First Dance” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.) Becca Tobin stars as a woman hired to teach Manhattan’s former Most Eligible Bachelor (Niall Matter) how to dance for his wedding.

Idris Elba and Kate Winslet star in the thriller “The Mountain Between Us” (HBO, 8 p.m.), making its premium cable debut.

“Grease: Behind Closed Doors” (Reelz, 9 p.m.) looks into the making of the popular 1978 musical.

Koalas are rehabilitated on “Dodo Heroes” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.).

“Truth and Lies: Tonya Harding” (ABC, 9 p.m.) gets a replay.

“Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.) tries to save a pit bull puppy.

On “Ransom” (CBS, 8 p.m.), Eric bargains with a suicidal co-pilot threatening to crash the plane.

Two men have different ideas about what a bride should wear on “Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta” (TLC, 8 p.m.).

Another couple argues about their wedding budget on “I Want THAT Wedding” (TLC, 9 p.m.).

“Ghost Adventures” (Travel, 9 p.m.) looks into an old hotel in Mokelumne Hill, Calif.

The origins of two blockbuster series are on tonight — the 1993 “Jurassic Park” (NBC, 8 p.m.) on broadcast TV and the 2010 “Despicable Me” (Freeform, 7:25 p.m.) on cable.

George Hamilton stars as Hank Williams in the 1964 bio pic “Your Cheatin’ Heart” (TCM, 2 a.m.) and Willie Nelson play a fictional country star in “Honeysuckle Rose” (TCM, 4 p.m.).  Earlier on Turner Classic Movies are the wilderness Westerns “Jeremiah Johnson” (8 p.m.) and “Man in the Wilderness” (10:15 p.m.), the film noir “The Pitfall” (12:15 a.m.)

The World Cup has France vs. Australia (Fox Sports 1, 6 a.m.), Argentina vs. Iceland (Fox, 9 a.m.), Peru vs. Denmark (Fox Sports 1, noon) and   Croatia vs. Nigeria (Fox Sports 1, 3 p.m.).

Baseball includes Tampa Bay at Yankees (MLB, 1 p.m.), Philadelphia at Milwaukee (MLB, 4 p.m.), Cubs at St. Louis (Fox, 8:15 p.m.) and Mets at Arizona (MLB, 11 p.m.).

Canadian football has Hamilton at Calgary (ESPN2, 7 p.m.) and Montreal at British Columbia (ESPN2, 10 p.m.).

Third round play occurs in the U.S. Open (Fox, 11 a.m.).

WNBA action has New York at Minnesota (NBA, 8 p.m.).

The Head and the Heart and Benjamin Booker play “Austin City Limits” (PBS, 11 p.m., check local listings).
