In Rudy Valdez’ “The Sentence” (HBO, 8 p.m.), he chronicles the 15-year-sentence given his sister Cindy Shank for being a girlfriend of a drug dealer as an illustration of mandatory minimum sentences that causes a whole family to suffer, particularly her three daughters who grow up while she is away. When she finally gets clemency, her preschooler is a preteen.

Jedd and Todd Wider’s “God Knows Where I Am” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings) follows the sad story of a woman who was found dad in an abandoned New Hampshire house after living on apples and water during a particularly cold winter. Her route to mental illness and homelessness the lapses in finding care are part of the story, which is followed by a discussion hosted by Hari Sreenivasan with the filmmakers and president of the American Psychiatric Association Carol Bernstein.

The late season rollout on CW includes the seventh season start for “Arrow” (CW, 8 p.m.), with Oliver still in prison, after turning himself in and revealing his identity as the Green Arrow.

It’s paired with “Constantine: The Legend Continues” (CW, 9 p.m.), a special derived from the online series “Constantine: City of Demons,” voiced by Matt Ryan, who plays the role in “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow”

“Cultureshock” (A&E, 10 p.m.) analyzes how Chris Rock’s stand-up special “Bring the Pain” changed comedy.
