SurvivorThe 38th season of “Survivor” (CBS, 8 p.m.), subtitled “Edge of Extinction,” brings some of the edge back to the show, in part by partly starving its contestants. While there are 14 new faces involved, there are also four returning players to Fiji — Joe Anglim, Aubry Bracco, Kelley Wentworth and David Wright. And of course one familiar face: longtime host Jeff Probst. The big twist this time is an option upon elimination to re-enter the game through a stint at something called Extinction Island.

The terrific documentary spoof “Documentary Now!” (IFC, 11 p.m.) returns for a third season, freed of having originators Fred Armisen and Bill Hader in every episode. It begins, in fact, with a two part takeoff of the Netflix docuseries “Wild Wild Country” written by Seth Myers, with Owen Wilson as the guru whose cult threatened a small town and Michael Keaton as an FBI cult specialist.

Two are unmasked tonight on “The Masked Singer” (Fox, 9 p.m.), hoping to bring more surprise than the recent unveiled “stars,” the latest of which, LaToya Jackson, was guessed long ago.

Battle rounds begin on “The World’s Best” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

On “You’re the Worst” (FXX, 10 p.m.), Gretchen and Jimmy make new friends.

Jay blends a baby shower with a Super Bowl party on “Modern Family” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

Head of the Highlander Club is up for grabs on “The Goldbergs” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

On “Grown-ish” (Freeform, 8 p.m.), they all attend the Cal U Arts Fair.

Lainey has to teach the jock class on “Schooled” (ABC, 8:30 p.m.).

I’m sure there’s something interesting to learn about “Naked Mole Rats” (Smithsonian, 8 p.m.).

“The Magicians” (Syfy, 9 p.m.) has some flashbacks.

Poppy’s ex has a girlfriend on “Single Parents” (AB, 9:30 p.m.).

“Mysteries at the Museum” (Travel, 9 p.m.) has a special episode on the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake.

“Project Runway All Stars” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) turn daywear into night time looks.

A truck plows through a street fair on “Chicago Med” (NBC, 8 p.m.). Junior connects with his past on “Black Ink Crew: Chicago” (VH1, 9 p.m.). Then there’s a “Chicago Fire” (NBC, 9 p.m.) crossover with “Chicago, P.D.” (NBC, 10 p.m.).

Teresa tries to keep her family together on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

“Deadly Class” (Syfy, 10 p.m.) deals with the death of Chico.

Donna’s relationship complicates a deal on “Suits” (USA, 10 p.m.).

“Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell & Back” (Fox, 8 p.m.) aids a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles.

Mario Cantone, Raven-Symoné, Oliver Hudson, Caroline Rhea, Finesse Mitchell and Julie Klausner play “Match Game” (ABC, 10 p.m.).

Turner Classic Movies has a couple of Oscar winning films about Henry VIII, “The Private Life of Henry VIII” (8 p.m.) and “A Man for All Seasons” (10 p.m.). Then comes both best score winners from 1954, “The High and the Mighty” (12:15 a.m.) and “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers” (3 a.m.). Earlier today, it’s all nominated courtroom dramas, with “Fury” (6:15 a.m.), “Trial” (8 a.m.), “Libel” (10 a.m.), “Inherit the Wind” (midnight), “Twilight of Honor” (2:15 p.m.), “Madeleine” (4:15 p.m.) and “12 Angry Men” (6:15 p.m.).

Hockey has Chicago at Detroit (NBC Sports, 7:30 p.m.) and Boston at Vegas (NBC Sports, 10 p.m.).
