Saturday TV: Serena at the Finals

espnw_g_williams01jr_800x450This morning has the women’s singles final (ESPN, 9 a.m.) between Simona Halep and Serena Williams, who will be playing in her 10th Wimbledon final.

Eddie Redmayne and Johnny Depp star in last year’s “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” (HBO, 8 p.m.), making  its premium cable debut. It’s the second film in the series, meant as a fantasy prequel of films like “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” (E!, 5 and 8:30 p.m.).

Too early for a review of a look at upcoming holiday movies on “2019 Christmas: A First Look Preview Special” (Hallmark, 10 p.m.)? Oh, heck yes.

But there’s an ugly sweater holiday party on “To Have and to Hold: Charlotte” (OWN, 10 p.m.) as well.

Baseball tonight has Washington at Philadelphia (Fox, 7 p.m.). Other games include Toronto at Yankees (MLB, 1 p.m.), White Sox at Oakland (Fox Sports 1, 4 p.m.) and Seattle at Angels (MLB, 10 p.m.).

A second season starts for the veterinarian series “Hanging with the Hendersons” (Animal Planet, 9 p.m.).

“Planet Earth: The Hunt” (BBC America, 9 p.m.) is one of those HD nature series that looks at the planet’s top hunters.

New races continue on “Million Dollar Mile” (CBS, 9 p.m.).

“Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Jeff” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.) treats a kitten with ringworm.

Alien stuff is investigated on “Strange Evidence” (Discovery, 8 and 9 p.m.), which is not to be confused with “Stranger Things” (Netflix, streaming).

Worst TV judge? That’s easy: “Justice with Judge Janine” (Fox News, 9 p.m.).

The made for TV thriller “Stalked by My Doctor: A Sleepwalker’s Nightmare” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) sounds pretty self-explanatory.

“Iyanla: Fix My Life” (OWN, 9 p.m.) helps three brothers recovering from an addicted father who abandoned them.

Farrah Fawcett is the focus of tonight’s “Behind Closed Doors with Natalie Morales” (Reelz, 9 p.m.).

“Secret Life of the Zoo” (Animal Planet, 11 p.m.) shows the problems of transporting a giraffe.

In case people think this is still interesting, here’s some footage from a ceremony on “JFK Jr. and Carolyn’s Wedding: The Lost Tapes” (TLC, 8 p.m.).

NBA summer games have Charlotte vs. Utah (NBA, 4 p.m.), Memphis vs. Boston (ESPN, 4:30 p.m.), Washington vs. New York (NBA, 6 p.m.), Miami vs. New Orleans (ESPN, 6:30 p.m.), Orlando vs. Chicago (NBA, 8 p.m.), Denver vs. Houston (NBA, 10 p.m.) and Dallas vs. Minnesota (ESPN2, 10:30 p.m.).

WNBA action has Las Vegas at Washington (CBS Sports, 7 p.m.).

Canadian football has Montreal at Ottawa (ESPN2, 4 p.m.) and Calgary at Hamilton (ESPN2, 7 p.m.).

In golf, there’s third round play in the Scottish Open (Golf, 10 a.m.; NBC, 12:30 p.m.) and the John Deere Classsic (Golf, 1 p.m.; CBS, 3 p.m.), and there is second round play in the American Century Celebrity Championship (NBC, 3 p.m.).

Auto racing includes the New York City ePrix 1 (Fox, 4 p.m.) and NASCAR’s Quaker State 400 (NBC Sports, 7:30 p.m.).

Stage 8 of the Tour de France (NBC Sports, 6:30 p.m.) is run from Mâcon to Saint-Etienne.

James Bay and Rhiannon Giddens play a 2016 episode of “Austin City Limits” (PBS, 11 p.m., check local listings).

Last year’s episode of “Saturday Night Live” (NBC, 11:30 p.m.) hosted by Awkwafina with musical guest Travis Scott.
