betweenIn a small city of Pretty Lake, the old folks are dying. Actually, everybody over 22. Which makes it a prime place for a new CW drama (or a remake of “Wild in the Streets”). Instead, the six episode sci-fi drama “Between” (Netflix, streaming) exists online, with a new episode dropping every week for a change, putting the kibosh on the binge option. Accordingly, it has a start time: 5:30 p.m. Eastern, 8:30 Pacific. It features former kid star Jennette McCurdy of “iCarly,” all grown up (but not grown up enough to die).

In what will now be TV’s longest charity telethon of the year, “Red Nose Day” (NBC, 8 p.m.) makes its U.S. debut. Based on similar events from the UK the three hour jumble of comedy skits and music is meant to raise money for a number of different children’s charities. Among those taking part include John Legend, Jack Black, Christina Aguilera, Gwyneth Paltrow, Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Hudson, Sam Smith, Adam Levine, Martin Short and  Sean “Diddy” Combs. Seth Meyers, David Duchovny and Jane Krakowski host.

David Letterman is really gone. For the first time in 22 years, there’s no late night talk show on CBS — at least until September. For now, reruns of “The Mentalist” (CBS, 12:35 a.m.).

Brothers Andrew and David Fung, armed with a $50 a day budget, travel around looking for the best regional food on the new “What the Fung?!” (FYI, 9 p.m.).

“Louie” (FX, 10:30 p.m.), too, is taking a road trip in the first of a new two-part episode.

Earlier, Josh celebrates Billy’s birthday on “The Comedians” (FX, 10 p.m.).

“Braxton Family Values” (We, 9 p.m.) begins a fourth season, followed by yet another reality show set in Atlanta, this time about four competiting hairdressers, “Cutting It: In the ATL” (We, 10 p.m.).

Quiz shows usually work best in a half hour format. So while it looked like an hour’s worth of the new “500 Questions” (ABC, 8 p.m.) Wednesday seemed excessive, tonight’s is two hours, and I have a few questions of my own about that.

Perhaps making up for throwing up a rerun in deference to Dave Wednesday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC, 10 p.m.) gets a primetime slot tonight for presumably the show that would have run Wednesday, with George Clooney and the only castoff of “The Bachelorette” this season who will be a woman, Britt Nilsson (who unfortunately lost to crass party girl Kaitlyn Bristowe, giving you an insight on the kind of guys enlisted to be suitors who voted.

Juliette Lewis is finding her way around TV; after a first season of “Secrets and Lies” (which will lead to a second), she’s also a crucial help to Matt Dillon on tonight’s “Wayward Pines” (Fox, 9 p.m.), suddenly the only new scripted offering on broadcast TV. Last week’s premiere is rerun at 8, so you can get on the ground floor if you missed it.

So many mysteries! Not only are there “Mysteries at the Museum” (Travel, 9 p.m.), there are now “Mysteries at the Hotel” (Travel, 10 p.m.).

A sixth season starts for “What’s My Car Worth?” (Velocity, 8 p.m.).

The latest bit The run of Thursday night disaster movies on Turner Classic Movies go to sea with “The Poseidon Adventure” (8 p.m.), “Beyond the Poseidon Adventure” (10:15 p.m.), “Juggernaut” (12:15 a.m.), “A Night to Remember” (2:15 a.m.) and “The Last Voyage” (4:30 a.m.).

The NBA Playoffs have Houston at Golden State (ESPN, 9 p.m.). In the Stanley Cup playoffs, it’s Anaheim at Chicago (NBC Sports, 8 p.m.).

Baseball includes Arizona at Miami (MLB, noon), Philadelphia at Colorado (MLB, 3:30 p.m.) and Cubs at San Diego (MLB, 9 p.m.).
