chelsea-handlerChelsea Handler  returns to the talk show format, but on a different platform than her last one on E! “Chelsea” (Netflix, streaming) means to shake up the late night format. So she doesn’t have a house band (though Chris Martin of Coldplay does an introduction); doesnt have a monologue as much as an introductory “explanation,” and brings surprising guests out without previously announcing them.

So on the first show today is the U.S. Education Secretary John King, the rapper Pitbull and a wine-swilling Drew Barrymore. Also, her dog pads around the stage.

The idea is that Handler hopes to learn a lot from her new show, though her own rapping to end it is the most embarrassing. Still, not breaking for commercials makes all the difference. Three new episodes air weekly, premiering just after 3 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays,

“Raiders of the Lost Art” (Ovation, 10 p.m.) begins a new season looking at specific heists of masterpieces. The first two episodes summarize the three time that Munch’s famous “The Scream,” has been stolen and the looting of Klimt’s “Portrait of Adele.”
