The latest from Christopher Guest comes on a streaming service — a mockumentary peek inside the fake World Mascot Association Championship which is also known as the Fluffies. “Mascots” (Netflix, streaming) stars a familiar cast of first-rate comics and improvisers that include Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Harry Shearer, bob Balaban, Jennifer Coolidge, Chris O’Dowd, Jane Lynch and Ed Begley Jr.
But there are also a number of new faces that are just as good in the deadpan array, including such favorites as Zach Woods and Sarah Baker, a pair of middle school teachers and mascots from Kansas. Guest himself also appears, resurrecting his character Corky St. Clair from “Waiting for Huffman.” It’s awfully funny.
