high-school-loverHere’s another one of those weird instances of Hollywood stars slumming in the Lifetime movie world, as James Franco produces and stars in the creepy thriller “High School Lover” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.). It’s about a teenage girl, played by Paulina Singer of “Orange is the New Black,” who falls in love with an older actor, who becomes obsessive. Surprisingly, that part is not played by Franco, but by Francois Arnaud. Franco plays the girl’s dad, who happens to have his own considerably younger girlfriend in Julia Jones.

In the other made-for-TV movie tonight, “Walking the Dog” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.) starts as ia romance between two dogs. Then the owners (Jennifer Finnigan and Sam Page), who happen to be high-powered rival lawyers, get involved. It’s part of the “Countdown to Valentine’s Day” series.

Keegan-Michael Key hosts the wholly unnecessary NFL Honors (Fox, 8 p.m.), made to tie in with Super Bowl hoopla.

More timely, maybe, is the replay of the documentary “Downward Spiral: Inside the Case Against Hernandez” (CNN, 9 p.m.), about the former New England Patriot tight end and convicted murderer.

The NBA gets some prime time attention with Cleveland at New York (ABC, 8:30 p.m.).

“The Guardians” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.) try to stop a cat conflict.

DNA testing is used on a 20 year old rape conviction on “48 Hours” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

On “Body Bizarre” (Discovery Life, 9 p.m.) a girl has a tumor in the middle of her face.

“Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” (OWN, 9 p.m.) opens in Inglewood.

The team on “MythBusters: The Search” (Science, 9 p.m.) wonder whether a weapon can really be made out of junkyard scrap.

Last year’s “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” (HBO, 8 p.m.), which served as both the prequel and sequel spin-off to “Snow White and the Huntsman,” gets a premium cable premiere, as does “Don John” (Showtime, 10 p.m.), written, directed and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is about a man addicted to internet porn until he meets Scarlett Johansson.

Bell Biv Devoe, Amy Purdy and Ty Herndon are tracked down for “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” (OWN, 10 p.m.).

Danny Boyle, Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Ewan Bremner and Izzy Bizu are on a new “Graham Norton Show” (BBC America, 10 p.m.).

“Bridesmaids” (Bravo, 8 and 10:30 p.m.) gets a double play as does “The Hangover” (E!, 7 and 9:30 p.m.).

Turner Classic Movies’ alphabetical showcase of 31 Days of Oscar closes out the Bs with “Boom Town” (6:15 a.m.), “Boomerang” (8:15 a.m.), “Born to Dance” (9:45 a.m.), “Bound for Glory” (11:30 a.m.), “The Boy Friend” (2 p.m.), “Boys Town” (4:30 p.m.), “The Brave One” (6:15 p.m.), “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (8 p.m.), “Bride of Frankenstein” (10 p.m.) and “Bullitt” (11:30 p.m.).
