“High Maintenance” (HBO, 11 p.m.), as it returns for its second season, is getting some higher profile as well. Those who have the discovered the charming anthology about little New York stories stitched together by the pot delivery guy — a show that first originated online — know that the sweet show can create some of the most memorable episodes on TV.
Tonight’s season begins with New Yorkers trying to go on with life as usual despite a huge tragedy that has happened. The tragedy is never named, which seems to suit a series where the main character is still only known as “The Guy.”
Lisa Kudrow joins the cast of “Grace and Frankie” (Netflix, streaming) as the fourth season of the Jane Fonda-Lily Tomlin comedy continues.
Also online is a new standup special, “Harith Iskander: I Told You So” (Netflix, streaming).
And a second season begins for the online kids show “Just Add Magic” (Amazon, streaming) about three friends and their experience with spells.
There’s a new kids series based on the big screen movie of the same name. “Trolls: The Beat Goes On!” (Netflix, streaming) subs in different voices than the stars in the original.
Nicolas Cage and Selma Blair stars as a pair of parents who go off the deep end and start killing the kids in the slasher comedy film “Mom and Dad” (Amazon, streaming). It’s from “Crank” co-creator Brian Taylor and may not be the timeliest release, following the news of the parents in California who had imprisoned their 12 kids.
There is some pleasure in watching Frank Luntz blow a gasket when he interviews Trump voters, seeing the right wing fever he helped foment come to roost. But most of his interviews with a panel of voters on tonight’s “Vice” (HBO, 7:30 p.m.) discussing the first year, is just depressing.
Another assessment comes on the special “Trump’s First Year: Reign of Chaos” (CNN, 9 p.m.) with Jake Tapper, which may be threatened by the whole Shutdown Countdown thing (which comes at midnight, we are constantly reminded).
Another variant in the Alaska quest for treasure is “Gold Rush: White Water” (Discovery, 10 p.m.).

NBA action includes Washington at Detroit (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and New York at Utah (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).
Hockey has Montreal at Washington (NHL, 7:30 p.m.) and Los Angeles at Anaheim (NBC Sports, 10 p.m.).
