Wednesday TV: CMT Awards, Bee’s Buzz

LittleBigTownIt takes a Little Big Town to host the 2018 CMT Music Awards (CMT, 8 p.m.), live from Nashville. Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Jimi Westbrook and Kimberly Schlapman — the members of that group — will also perform in the event, alongside Kelly Clarkson, Dierks Bently, Sam Hunt, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton and Jason Aldean.

Aldean, Carrie Underwood and Florida Georgia Line are tied for most nominations with four each; Chris Stapleton, Little Big Town, Thomas Rhett and Lauren Alaina each have three.

My take is that she didn’t really say the c-word on last week’s “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” (TBS, 10:30 p.m.) — she was bleeped. But Bee, who has already apologized, will have a more nuanced response when she takes on last week’s firestorm on a new episode. I’m sure all her critics will tune in to receive it.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals has Golden State at Cleveland (ABC, 9 p.m.) with the Warriors leading 2-0. Jennifer Lopez is guest on the pre-game “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC, 8 p.m.).

“The Fosters” (Freeform, 8 p.m.) ends its run after five seasons. Its final episode, capping a three-night farewell this week, surrounds Brandon’s wedding in Turks & Caicos. The events this week, however, also help set the stage for the show’s spin-off, “Good Trouble,” which will concentrate on life in Los Angeles for the characters Callie and Mariana, played by Maia Mitchell and Cierra Ramirez.

A sick baby tests Offred and Serena on a new episode of “The Handmaid’s Tale” (Hulu, streaming).

The new series “Condor” (DirecTV, 10 p.m.) is a CIA thriller based on the book “Six Days of the Condor,” with a cast that includes Max Irons, Brendan Fraser and William Hurt.

A major obstacle in the Los Angeles qualifiers for “American Ninja Warrior” (NBC, 8 p.m.) are the commercial tie-ins to “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”

Contestants on “MasterChef” (Fox, 9 p.m.) make meals with ingredients from their home states.

Luann is arrested and in rehab on “The Real Housewives of New York City” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).

Mara tries to figure out unintended sideeffects of “Reverie” (NBC, 10 p.m.).

A look at modern warfare is found on “Rise of the Superbombs” (History, 8 p.m.).

On “The Originals” (CW, 9 p.m.), Ivy tells Klaus about his dark magic.

The Bowmans encounter some road dangers on “Colony” (USA, 10 p.m.).

A pyramid stunt leads to hospitalization on “Code Black” (CBS, 10 p.m.).

The Rocinate seek a new plan on “The Expanse” (Syfy, 9 p.m.).

The SEALs head to Bosnia on “SIX” (History, 10 p.m.).

Leonard Maltin hosts another visit into the Disney values on Turner Classic Movies, with the 1937 “A Trip Through the Walt Disney Studios” (8 p.m.), “The Best of Walt Disney’s True-Life Adventures” (8:15 p.m.), “The Legend of Lobo” (10 p.m.), “Society Dog Show” (11:15 p.m.), “Greyfriars Bobby” (11:25 p.m.), the short “Dogs N’ Ducks” (1:02 a.m.), “Plates Purchase” (1:15 a.m.), “Big Red” (1:23 a.m.), “Moose Hunters” (3 a.m.) and “Benji the Hunted” (3:09 a.m.).

Baseball includes Milwaukee at Cleveland (MLB, 1 p.m.), Atlanta at San Diego (MLB, 4 p.m.), Yankees at Toronto (MLB, 7 p.m.) and Kansas City at Angels (MLB, 10 p.m.).

The French Open (Tennis, 7 a.m.) reaches quarterfinals.

Track & field has NCAA outdoor championships (ESPNU, 7:30 p.m.).

Soccer includes Belgium vs. Egypt (ESPN Deportes, 2:45 p.m.) in an international friendly.
