Halfway through the season, J.R. Martinez shot to the top of the leaderboard Monday on “Dancing with the Stars” with his first 10 and personal best score of 28 overall for a samba to Gloria Estefan “Conga.”
With that, the soldier turned actor also took the best average score from judges after five weeks, edging Ricki Lake, who lost her timing during a foxtrot to Phil Collins and her score fell five points from the season high of 29 that she set last week to just 24 this week.
That sent her to third place, tied with Hope Solo, behind the new second place holders, David Arquette and Rob Kardashian, each with 25, their highest scores to date.
Holding up the rear for 80s Week were Nancy Grace with 22, Chaz Bono with 21 and Carson Kressley with 19.
It’s the second straight week that Kressley has finished last, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be eliminated on Tuesday’s show. Chynna Phillips, who was sent home last week, had the third highest average score of all the contestants.
