It’s been a tense, powerful season for “Breaking Bad” (AMC, 10 p.m.), the one must-watch series of the summer. Walter White, having won the cartel war last year, now must find a way to the next phase of what he’s calling his empire.
There are so many loose ends to contend with – a big one last week will have its own repercussions as the producers test the audience to see how bad a guy Walter can become and still be a sympathetic character.
Anyway, with so many strong episodes this summer, you can bet there will be a doozy tonight to tide us over until the final set of eight episodes next summer.
“Sunday Best” (BET, 9 p.m.) reaches its finale tonight, featuring an awful lot of great gospel singing.
With “Eipsodes” gone, Lisa Kurdow’s “Web Therapy” (Showtime, 10:30 p.m.) takes over the time slot.
“Royal Memories: Prince Charles Tribue to the Queen” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) will probably not explain why she was wearing a hoodie last week.
It sounds like the kind of countdowns saved by the TV Guide Channel. But the Paley Center is behind the network special “TV’s Most Dynamic Duos” (ABC, 9 p.m.). I’m voting for Augie Doogie Doggie and Doggie Daddy.
Racial tensions in Five Points come to a boil on “Copper” (BBC America, 10 p.m.).
Les Stroud, known to you as “Survivorman” (Discovery, 8 p.m.) hikes for 10 days in chilly Norway.
Get a glimpse of the fall prime time schedule as far as one network is concerned with “The Chew Presents ABC’s Primetime Fall Preview” (ABC, 7 p.m.), featuring stars of the daytime food-oriented show interviewing stars of some new series.
The destinations on “Off the Hook: Extreme Catches” (Animal Planet, 8 p.m.) are Rhode Island and new York City.
The remade alliances on “Big Brother” (CBS, 8 p.m.) forge ahead and two more are nominated for eviction in a week that will have another double elimination.
Improving ballpark fare is the task on “The Great Food Truck Race” (Food Network, 9 p.m.).
“Big Ang” (VH1, 9 p.m.) reaches its first season finale. Can we stand to see more?
Katie throws a party on “Nail Files” (TV Guide Network, 9 p.m.).
The Summer Under the Stars is over on Turner Classic Movies, making way for more esoteric themes, such as tonight’s “Keep Your Hands to Yourself,” with “Hands of a Stranger” (8 p.m.), “The Beast with Five Fingers” (9:45 p.m.), “Mad Love” (11:30 p.m.) and the silent “The Hands of Oriac” (12:45 a.m.)
It’s the White Sox vs. Tigers (ESPN, 8 p.m.) in Sunday night baseball.
In college football, it’s Alabama State vs. Bethune-Cookman (ESPN, noon) and Kentucky at Louisville (ESPN, 3:30 p.m.). The NFL onslaught begins later this week.
The U.S. Open (CBS, 11 a.m.) plays this morning.
