Bobby Moynihan got a break this week on “Saturday Night Live” when Chris Christie came in to do his own impersonation of himself, the New Jersey Governor.
It had been a little while since there had been an actual politician on the show. Unlike the 2008 presidential campaign, neither candidate this time around made an appearance. But Christie may have been a component of that race by praising Obama’s work following the devastation of storm Sandy just before the election.
He was on to still talk about storm cleanup, in lines written by “SNL” but delivered broadly enough with Seth Meyer during the Weekend Update segment to suggest a future in comedy if he wanted, making fun of the fleece he’d been wearing almost since the storm ended.
He ended by quoting from his favorite rocker, Bruce Springsteen, and the chorus of “Atlantic City.” He’s such a fan, the opportunity to recite it on camera may have been what lured him on the show to begin with.
