portlandiaPower outages have been common lately because of storms, but in “Portlandia” (IFC, 10 p.m.), power is out because the mayor hasn’t paid the electric bill — mostly because he’s gone missing in recent weeks.

The blackout plays havoc for all manner of characters, from Peter and Nance to Kath and Dave and Fred and Carrie, who look for the mayor (Kyle MacLachlan). Other guest stars in the season finale include Bill Hader, Chloe Sevigny and Kumail Nanjiani.

Don’t tell me sequestration isn’t already having an effect: “The Job” is out of a job because of low ratings. It’s being replaced by a rerun of “Undercover Boss” (CBS, 8 p.m.).

“Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) is live again, with scheduled guests cybersecurity expert James Lyne, finance expert Monica Mehta, California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Republican political consultant Steve Schmidt and the rapper Snoop Dogg, er, Lion. Back when he was Snoop Dogg, though, he was in a movie about a car wash called “The Wash” (BET, 8 p.m.).

Get a full fake Amish experience with the movie “An Amish Murder” (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 p.m.) and the latest episode of “Banshee” (Cinemax, 10 p.m.).

Newsmagazines are working quick to get to the model murder in South Africa. So it dominates both “Dateline” (NBC, 8 p.m.) and  “20/20” (ABC, 10 p.m.), which has its own subtitle for its coverage: “The Fast Times of Oscar Pistorius.” Later, “Rock Center with Brian Williams” (NBC, 10 p.m.) looks at another Olympian, Lindsey Van.. Also, Chelsea Clinton talks to author Judy Blume and Harry Smith visits The Onion, which is forced to eat more crow after its crude Oscar tweet.

It must be some sort of Nicolas Cage holiday. He can be seen in “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” (ABC Family, 8 p.m.), “The Family Man” (Bravo, 8 p.m.), “The Rock” (Flix, 8 p.m.) and “National Treasure” (TNT, 8 p.m.).

But there are also a couple of Vin Diesel movies on tonight, “Fast Five” (HBO2, 8 p.m.) and “The Pacifier” (ABC Family, 9 p.m.). And two with Kevin Costner: “Tin Cup” (TV Guide Network, 8 p.m.) and “Open Range” (Encore, 8 p.m.).

Don’t mix up “The Reunion” (Showtime, 7:15 p.m.) with “American Reunion” (HBO Signature, 9 p.m.).

Me, I think I’ll just watch “The Big Lebowski” (TMC, 8 p.m.).

The Oscar films from United Artists on Turner Classic Movies tonight include “Monsieur Verdoux” (8 p.m.), “Red River” (10:15 p.m.), “Witness for the Prosecution” (12:45 a.m.), “Cyrano De Bergerac” (3 a.m.) and “A Hole in the Head” (5 a.m.).

The World Series is just a North American thing, but the World Baseball Classic in Taiwan features truly global teams in competition. First up: Australia vs. Taiwan (MLB, 11:30 p.m.).

NBA action tonight includes Memphis at Miami (ESPN, 8 p.m.) and Oklahoma City at Denver (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).

Men’s college hoops includes Loyola at Iona (ESPN, 7 p.m.), Harvard at Princeton (ESPNU, 7 p.m.), and Fairfield at Manhattan (ESPNU, 9 p.m.).
