When it returns for its final eight episodes Aug. 11, “Breaking Bad” will be accompanied by its own live after show, “Talking Bad” to discuss all of the action.
It follows the success (and name) of “Talking Dead,” the live talk show that followed episodes of “The Walking Dead” this season. There was no talk of an eventual “Talking Mad” to go with its current series “Mad Men,” however, at AMC’s upfront announcements Wednesday.
When it returns, “Breaking Bad” will be paired with a new series, “Low Winter Sun,” a Detroit-based police drama based on a British miniseries of the same name, staring Mark Strong and Lennie James.
Premiere dates were given for season two of “Small Town Security” (May 9), the reality series about small town talent shows, “Showville” (May 23), the advertising insider “The Pitch” (Aug. 15) and “Owner’s Manual,” a reality show testing skills of people who read the manual and those who don’t.
“Comic Book Men” and “Freak Show” were renewed for new seasons, but the third Thursday night reality show with which they play, “Immortalized,” regarding taxidermy, was not.
In development news, writer Rolin Jones, of “Boardwalk Empire,” “Smash” and “United States of Tara” will write and executive produce projects for the network.
Working titles for shows currently in development include “Ballistic ity” about a cop in a space ship; “King” about a senator in segregationist South; “Ashland” about a California family relocated to a small Kentucky mining town during the Red Scare; “White City,” about journalists and diplomats in Afghanistan; “The Wall” about an American businessman in 1960s Berlin and projects about a second American revolution in the future and a Zigfield girl in the car industry of the 1920s.
AMC reality shows in development include “Majority Rules,” about all levels of democracy in America; “All-Star Celebrity Bowling” and “Cancelled,” in which six households compete to be a high rated reality show.
Already announced dates for series this summer include “The Killing” June 2 and “Hell on Wheels” Aug. 3.
