“Richard Pryor: Omit the Logic” (Showtime, 9 p.m.) filmmaker Marina Zenovich considers the influential, successful and wildly funny comedian who was undone by a streak of self-destruction and immolation.
Big names like Bob Newhart, Whoopi Goldberg, Jesse Jackson, Robin Williams and Walter Moseley take part, but so a string of agents, wives and lawyers along the way.
The only way it could have been improved is by programming it next to his films, clips of which are included in the documentary. Instead, there’s a standup special by a contemporary comedian, “Sommore: Chandelier Status” (Showtime, 10:30 p.m.).
“Bridezillas” (WEtv, 8 p.m.) returns for its 10th and final season, while some of the memorable ‘zillas from previous seasons return to help save their troubled home life on the entertaining new “Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas” (WEtv, 9 p.m.). Couples move into a mansion, carry out exercises under the supervision of a team of experts, and generally don’t change their ways — at least in the first episode.
Its followed by a new show about women with a particular relationship challenge: “Pregnant & Dating” (WEtv, 10 p.m.).
For a new season of wedding planning, it’s “Randy to the Rescue” (TLC, 9 p.m.).
In the new “Treehouse Masters” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.), Pete Nelson leads a team to build wonderous treehouses for adults with plumbing and electricity.
The made for TV family film “Space Warriors” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.), from WalMart and Procter & Gamble, concentrates on a group of kids competing at Space Camp. There’s an impressive array of supporting actors who occasionally appear, including Dermot Mulroney, Mira Sorvino, Danny Glover and Josh Lucas. It’s kind of sweet in its way despite the many bad accents (Russian, Southern) among the kids.
It’s the final episode ever for “Merlin” (Syfy, 10 p.m.), which began its life in the U.S. on NBC.
For those who never saw the superior “The Staircase” on Sundance, there’s a summary on the case of Michael Peterson on “Dateline” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
“Rock Center with Brian Williams” (NBC, 9 p.m.) gets an update on some of the injured victims at the Boston Marathon bombing.
The game show posing as a news series, “What Would You Do?” (ABC, 9 p.m.) returns with some more hidden camera antics.
Illeana Douglas’ month-long Friday night examination of favorite overlooked films comes to an end tonight with “A New Leaf” (8 p.m.), “1941” (10 p.m.), “Those Lips, Those Eyes” (12:15 a.m.), “Absolute Beginners” (2:15 a.m.) and “Night of the Comet” (4:15 a.m.).
Michael Isikoff, Neera Tanden, James Poulos, Paul Rudnick and brit Marling are scheduled guests for a new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.), after a week’s absence.
