It’s a good sign that some reality producers also see the humor in some of the worst home shopping networks. One of the worst, DSN, is celebrated in the new show “The Good Buy Girls” (TLC, 10 p.m.) in which two former beauty queen turned TV pitchwomen try to find items outside of the normal zurconia cubes to hawk on the air.
So like a pair of Lucys in a new century Brook Roberts and Tara Gray try out all kind of contraptions at their apartment (since they live together as well). The wayward home tanning contraptions works about as poorly as you expect it to. In looking for new items, it’s sort of like “Shark Tank,” as if done by a pair of clown fish.
Jason Aldean and Kristen Bell host “The CMT Music Awards” (CMT, 8 p.m.) from Nashville, where Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Hnter Hayes, Ashley Monroe, Darius Rucker, George Strait, Little Big Town, Keith Urban and Aldean will also perform. Red carpet coverage starts at 7.
“Beverly Hills Pawn” (Reelz, 9 p.m.) is not the name of the pawn shop of 90210; instead it’s called “Dina Collection,” after the sexist Kojak-type who runs the store. It’s on Reelz because it has something to do with the film industry — somebody drags in sheets from “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and fake eggs from “Jurassic Park III.” But the woman who wants to sell the Astin Martin from her eight-car garage for $1 million you start to wish an earthquake would strike them all.
New from the people that gave you “Who the (Bleep)” is “Southern Fried Homicide” (Investigation Discovery, 10 p.m.) depicting real crime cases with elaborate re-enactments, except with a drawl this time.
Speaking of the South, a new season starts for the reality competition that sounds like it was a joke on “30 Rock,” “Redneck Island” (CMT, 10:30 p.m.).
Who says there’s not smart programming on television in the summer? “Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman” (Science, 10 p.m.) returns for a fourth season with the esteemed and apparently fearless actor posing the question right off the bat: When does life begin? Also on tonight: a new competition on “The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius” (Discovery, 7 p.m.),
Is there a new Honey Boo Boo out there? If there is they’ll likely find them among the Ultimate Grand Supremes on “Toddlers & Tiaras” (TLC, 9 p.m.), back for its sixth season.
Tonight you can watch both two hours of “MasterChef” (Fox, 8 p.m.) and the new “Chef Roble and Co.” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) cooking up a storm for Phaedra from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” And if there’s room in the kitchen for dessert, there’s also “The American Baking Competition” (CBS, 8 p.m.), where the subject is cookies.
The recent case of young women found imprisoned in a Midwestern house is covered in the special “House of Horrors: Kidnapped in Cleveland” (Investigation Discovery, 8 p.m.).
Anthony Mann invigorated the Western in the 50s with a more psychological approach, often starring Jimmy Stewart. The work is showcased tonight on Turner Classic Movies with “The Far Country” (8 p.m.), “Winchester ’73” (9:45 p.m.), “Devil’s Doorway” (11:30 p.m.), “Cimarron” (1 a.m.) and “The Last Frontier” (3:45 a.m.).
It’s Pittsburgh at Boston (NBC Sports Network, 8 p.m.) in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In baseball, Texas at Boston (ESPN2, 7 p.m.) gets a national audience.
