Big night for Lisa Kudrow as two of her shows return for new seasons.
The best of the two is “Web Therapy” (Showtime 11 p.m.), her funny show about a therapist who does her work online in five minute sessions, usually with celebrities. Joining her tonight is Steve Carell and Alan Cumming.
The other one is “Who Do You Think You Are?” (TLC, 9 p.m.), her geneology show that used to be on network TV, which has by now moved to cable. First to look at her roots there is Kelly Clarkson. Turns out she’s related to Justin Guarini!
Just as President Obama prepares to go there for vacation next month, “The Vineyard” (ABC Family, 10 p.m.) follows a group of 20 somethings working the summer at Martha’s Vineyard.
The FBI’s meddling with MLK is retold, weirdly on “Drunk History” (Comedy Central, 10 pm.).
The latest variation on “Storage Wars,” is “Dallas Car Sharks” (Velocity, 8:30 p.m.) in which Texas dealers bid at auto auctions in hopes of making some money.
Barbara Walters hosts a special “20/20” (ABC, 10 p.m.) reporting breathlessly on the royal birth. Spoiler alert: A son was born.
Building on its impressive “30 for 30” documentary series which tied in with the network’s long gone anniversary, ESPN begins “Nine for IX” covering female athletes. The first is Audrey Mestre, a free-diver who died after a 2002 plunge near the Dominican Republic that remains cloaked in mystery. Alison Ellwood directed the resulting “No Limits” (ESPN, 8 p.m.).
A new edition of “Real Sports with Bryant Gumble” (HBO, 10 p.m.) looks at the controversy inside the Chivas USA Soccer Club in Los Angeles, the scandal caused by tennis star Bob Hewitt and profiles surfer Kelly Slater.
Live performances begin on “America’s Got Talent” (NBC, 9 p.m.) from Radio City Music Hall. One bad sign is that they can only fit a dozen acts in a two hour show. Eight of them will be eliminated tomorrow.
But there are two other two hour reality shows on tonight: “So You Think You Can Dance” (Fox, 8 p.m.) with Carly Rae Jepsen as guest judge of the Top 16, and “Extreme Weight Loss” (ABC, 8 p.m.) in which a 290-pound nurse loses half her weight.
In the new series “Power Broker” (HGTV, 9 p.m.) real estate agent Mike Aubrey drives hard bargains after getting clients to fix up their homes.
I can only guess on the extreme medical procedures covered on “Taboo USA” (National Geographic, 10 p.m.).
Peter Gallagher guest stars on a new “Covert Affairs” (USA, 9 p.m.). Did we know Gregory Itzen is also in this series?
Were the bones of Buddha really found in India? “Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m.) endeavors to find out. It follows the unearthing of their own two hour bio film “The Buddha” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings), narrated by Richard Gere.
The month long Tuesday night salute to actor Paul Henreid continues with “Of Human Bondage” (8 p.m.), “Between Two Worlds” (10 p.m.), “Hollywood Canteen” (midnight), “Pirates of Tripoli” (2:15 a.m.), “Last of the Buccaneers” (3:30 a.m.) and “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse” (5 a.m.).
If you didn’t see it Friday or Sunday: “Teen Beach Movie” (Disney, 9 p.m.). It may well be on every other day for the rest of the summer.
