One thing I miss about not being in Southern New England in the summers is the chance to drive up to the Berkshires to catch some dance in Lenox, Mass.,
Luckilly, there is a documentary history of Jacob’s Pillow founded in the 1930s by Ted Shaw. “Dancing at Jacob’s Pillow: Never Stand Still” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) includes a who’s who of dance, happy to work and create in the woods of Western Massachusetts among the fireflies and trees, where the most stunning backdrop is the view of nature behind the dancers.
Glad to say that ABC News is moving away from its game show-like “What Would You Do?” The bad news is they are now doing “Would You Fall for That?” (ABC, 9 p.m.), which sounds even more like a hidden camera prank show — presented by the news division.
Eliot Spitzer is guest and Anthony Weiner is the likely butt of jokes on a new “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO, 10 p.m.) that will also feature Sarah Slamen, Jim Wallis, Reza Aslan and Bob Ney.
In the aftermath of the Zimmerman verdict, you might wonder: What did Fat Joe think? He gets a chance to express his reaction along with Wyclef Jean, Raekwon, a guy from Dead Prez and Lester Chambers on a “Fuse News Special: The Balla of Treyvon Martin” (Fuse, 8 p.m.).
Wow, when was the last time “Day for Night” (TCM, 8 p.m.) has ever been on TV. Ever? The thoroughly delightful (as I remember it) look at a movie production from 1973 kicks off the final night of the Friday survey of the work of director Francois Truffaut that otherwise looks at his later work in the 1970s and 1980: “The Last Metro” (10 p.m.) with Catherine Deneuve, “The Wild Child” (12:15 a.m.) starring Trauffaut himself, and “The Story of Adele H.” (TCM, 1:45 a.m.) with Isabelle Adjani.
The star-studded “ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’s Superstar Summer” (CBS, 8 p.m.) gets a replay, since it is the summer. McGraw’s guests for the Las Vegas soncert include John Fogerty, Faith Hill, Nelly, the Band Perry, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Pitbull and Ne-Yo, some of whom are not in the Academy of Country Music.
Another summer rerun concert is the two hour “iHeart Radio Ultimate Pool Party” (The CW, 8 p.m.) from Miami with Ke$ha, Icona Pop, Jason Derulo, Miley Cyrus, LL Cool J and, one more time, Pitbull.
Anna Kendrick and Ben Schwartz both pop up on a new “Comedy Bang! Bang!” (IFC, 10 p.m.).
Anybody been catching “Warlocks Rising” (Discovery, 9 p.m.), which purports to follow the notorious motorcycle club, is pretty filled with guns and explosions, as well as old guys with beards. It may not tide you over until “Sons of Anarchy” returns. It’s paired with a new “Sons of Guns: Locked and Loaded” (Discovery, 8 p.m.).
“13 Going on 30” (Fox Movie Channel, 7 and 9 p.m.) plays twice. I’m not even going to do the math.
“Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas” (WE tv, 9 p.m.) closes up just in time for the “Marriage Boot Camp: Bridezillas Reunion” (WE tv, 10 p.m.).
Host Catherine Reitman catches up with Nicholas Brendon, Xander of “Buffy” and Darius McCrary of “Family Matters” on a new “Miss U Much” (VH1, 10 p.m.).
After being in a hot one last week, I understand the appeal of “Cool Pools” (HGTV, 9 p.m.).
A 1,100 pound fish isn’t just a “Wicked Tuna” (Nat Geo Wild, 9 p.m.); it’s wicked fat.
