As the fourth season begins, the show hopes to build on the success of its last one, which averaged 8.4 million people, by going back to that reliable reality trope: the renewal of the vows. It’s been 49 years since Phil and Miss Kay tied the knot but the sons (actually just the daughters-in-law are hellbent on throwing them a proper ceremony all these years later. Uncle Si is enlisted to distract the two as preparations are made. And just about everything seems contrived but Phil himself.
The family actually provides a long list of possible suspects on the second episode of “Broadchurch” (BBC America, 10 p.m.). It’s not too late to jump in.
On “The Bridge” (FX, 10 p.m.), Sonya may have poor social skills but makes a friend in a potential witness tonight.
The remaining seven contestants on “MasterChef” (Fox, 9 p.m.) have a T-bone steak challenge, while those on “Top Chef Masters” (Bravo, 10 p.m.) throw a surprise engagement party for host Curtis Stone.
On Sunday, new head of household Andy nominated Jessie and Spencer for eviction and there will be no third surprise nominee. But there will be a power of veto competition tonight on “Big Brother” (CBS, 9 p.m.).
Four acts get their walking papers on the results show for “America’s Got Talent” (NBC, 9 p.m.) where the Backstreets Boy perform. They’ll come from a field of 10 whose performances are summarized at 8.
