I’m used to writing of contestants losing on “The Bachelor,” but not of suicide deaths.
Sadly, that’s what happened to Gia Allemand, 29, the cheery and exotic standout from Jake Pavelka’s season of the dating show.
She only finished third that season, but was enough of a fan favorite to return for two seasons of “Bachelor Pad,” hooking up with one guy the first time, and walking off the second.
She might have been back for a third “Bachelor Pad” this summer had they made one (instead “The Bachelorette” played instead).
Allemand had been dating NBA player Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Pelicans, who found her body hanging Monday night. She died Wednesday in a hospital.
“Bachelor” cast members and hosts have been tweeting their condolences, of which I will now spare you. But I hope this doesn’t start a succession of needless “Bachelor” participant deaths.
