gregnicoteroScary movies are plentiful this week, of course, but what happens when Halloween is over? Time to turn to ghoulish special effects men like Greg Nicotero from Pittsburgh, who dropped out of medical school to devote his life to this kind of makeup. He’s the subject of the documentary “Nightmare Factory” (Epix, 8 p.m.).

It’s Halloween already on new episodes of “The Middle” (ABC, 8 p.m.), “Back in the Game” (ABC, 8:30 p.m.) and “Modern Family” (ABC, 9 p.m.) but not “Super Fun Night” (ABC, 9:30 p.m.).

Other scary fare includes the movie “Halloween” (AMC and SPike TV, 8 p.m.), “Interview with the Vampire” (BBC America, 8 and 10 p.m.), “Zombieland” (FX, 8 p.m.), the 2003 version of “The Texas Chainsw Massacre” (IFC, 8 p.m.), “Girl vs. Monster” (Disney Channel, 8:30 p.m.), “Resident Evil: Retribution” (Starz, 9 p.m.) and “Halloween II” (AMC, 10 p.m.;  Spike TV, 10:30 p.m.).

And at this time particularly, the weekly episode of “American Horror Story: Coven” (FX, 10 p.m.) is timely.

But there is also a Halloween theme to the150th episode of  “Top Chef” (Bravo, 10 p.m.), where a meal is prepared for Lea Michele. And the season premiere of “Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life” (MTV, 10:30 p.m.) has the pop star visiting a haunted hotel.

Game 6 of the World Series returns to Fenway with St. Louis at Boston (Fox, 7:30 p.m.). The Red Sox are ahead in the series 4-3 and can take it all with a win tonight.

In lieu of the TV series, the 1999 Johnny Depp movie “Sleepy Hollow” (Fox Movie network , 8 and 10 p.m.) is on twice.

To step away from all these kinds of movies, I’d suggest Bill Murray in Jim Jarmusch’s “Broken Flowers” (Sundance, 8 and 10:15 p.m.) or another shot at “Goodfellas” “Encore” (Sundance, 8 p.m.).

Though the original “Hoarders” has been canceled, the copycat “Hoarding: Buried Alive” (TLC, 10 p.m.) returns for a new season.

In some weird ABC cross promotion, the actual Robin Roberts of “Good Morning America” interviews the character Rayna James on “Nashville” (ABC, 10 p.m.).

Jennifer Coolidge, once a star of “Best of Show,” hosts the “American Humane Association Hero Dog Aewards 2013” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.) honoring canines who have done brave things. An animal deserving of less praise, the wolverine, tracked on a new “Nature” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings).

Yo Gabba Gabba are guest stars on “South Park” (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.).

I’m thinking actual cheapskates don’t subscribe to cable and can’t take advantage of the wacky lifestyles in “Extreme Cheapskates” (TLC, 9 p.m.), back for a second season.

What would Gilbert Gottfried choose if he was programming Turner Classic Movies? “Of Mice and Men” (8 p.m.), “The Swimmer” (10 p.m.), “Freaks” (midnight) and “The Conversation” (1:15 a.m.). And after that is “Blow-Up” (3:15 a.m.).

NBA action includes Brooklyn at Cleveland (NBA, 7 p.m.) and Lakers at Golden State (NBA, 10:30 p.m.). In hockey, it’s Boston at Pittsburgh (NBC Sports, 8 p.m.). And there’s one college football game, Cincinnati at Memphis (ESPN2, 8 p.m.).
