Barbra Streisand returned to her roots in October 2012, performing at the new Barclays cener in Brooklyn. The concert was captured in a special ‘Barbra Streisand: Back to Brooklyn” that plays on “Great Performances” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings).
She’s joined by trumpeter Chris Botti, singing group Il Volo and her own son Jason Gould. She starts with “As If I Never Said Good By,” includes “Evergreen” and “People” and closes with “Happy Days are Here Again.”
Capping a three year stint at the Wynn Las Vegas, the country star presents a live TV version of his casino show, “Garth Brooks Live from Live Vegas” (CBS, 9 p.m.) in which he pays tribute to his influences, which range from George Jones and Merle Haggard to James Taylor and Otis Redding.
The fourth annual Big Cat Week begins with “Man vs. Cheetah” (Nat Geo Wild, 8 p.m.) , in which two NFL payers, Chris Johnson of Tennessee and Devin Hester of Chicago take the challenge against a cheetah. It’s followed by “Super Cat” (Nat Geo Wild, 10 p.m.).
A new animated special based on the book makes its debut, “The Elf on the Shelf” (CBS, 8:30 p.m.) alongside a worthy returnee: “Hoops & Yoyo Ruin Christmas” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
It’s opposite a lot of competition , the 1966 “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (ABC, 8 p.m.), the terrible “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” (The CW, 8 p.m.) and the terrific “Shrek the Halls” (ABC, 8:30 p.m.).
