The latest new series for Hallmark, “When Calls the Heart” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.) is drawn from their two hour movie shown in October, about a city teacher in the 19th century who who moves to a small mining town in Western Canada.
But while the movie starred Poppy Drayton, it now stars Erin Krakow of “Army Wives.” (and the main character turns from blonde to brunette). Daniel Lissing has also been added to the cast as the new constable and Lori Laughlin returns from her role in the original.
There’s also some scenery: “When Calls the Heart” is the first TV series to be shot in Telluride, Colo.
Also new on TV tonight, Judy Blume’s “Tiger Eyes” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) gets a film version directed by her son Lawrence Blume, regarding American Indian healing in the American Southwest.
For some tougher action, Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes and Bradley Cooper star in the premium cable premiere of “The Place Beyond the Pines” (HBO, 9 p.m.), about a bank robber and a rookie cop.
Also on tonight: The Bruce Wayne action sequel, “A Good Day to Die Hard” (Cinemax, 10 p.m.) and “Milius” (Flix, 9 p.m.), about the macho screenwriter
The NHL divisional playoffs have New Orleans at Seattle (Fox, 4:25 p.m.) and Indianapolis at New England (CBS, 8:15 p..m.).
The second of this year’s two-week specials, “Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious” (OWN, 10 p.m.) pokes fun of a lot of things, including the network it’s on.
“Animation Domination High-Def” (Fox, 11 p.m.) features two new series, “Lucas Bros. Moving Co.” and “Golan the Insatiable.”
The U.S. Figure Skating Championships (NBC, 3 and 8 p.m.) will help determine competitors in Sochi, with pairs’ free skate in the afternoon and the ladies’ free skate at night.
