Herbert L.Block wielded one of the darkest pens in editorial cartooning and he did it for a long time — 55 years at the Washington Post through 13 Presidents and winning four Pulitzer Prizes. Michael Stevens’ film “Herblock: The Black & The White” (HBO, 9 p.m.) chronicles his work, with admiring commentary from TOm Brokaw and Ted Koppel to Jules Feiffer, Lewis Black and Jon Stewart.
One subject Herblock would be likely addressing today is Arizona’s crackdown on illegal immigrants — and those suspected of it. That’s the subject of another documentary tonight, “State of Arizona” on “Independent Lens” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings).
You may be tired from watching 220 minutes of the Grammys last night. How about some time honoring scientific achievements? The 2014 Breakthrough Prizes (Science, 9 p.m.) don’t attract as many readily identifiable celebrities or designer dresses. But Kevin Spacey agreed to host the event from NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountain View, Calif. The six winners in life sciences and one in physics receive $3 million in unrestricted grant money.
A more modest prize is open to a much wider audience, namely a trip to Spain and Morocco, on “The Trip: 2014″ (Travel, 8 p.m.).
I’m thinking that the new “Fashion Police” (E!, 9 p.m.) on the Grammys won’t stray far from the hat choices of Pharrell and Madonna.
The big travel begins on “The Bachelor” (ABC, 8 p.m.) with 14 remaining women joining him in South Korea. It’d be more interesting if they all went to North Korea.
Kevin Bacon’s character is obsessed all over again on “The Following” (Fox, 9 p.m.). The new episode follows an 8 p.m. repeat of the second season premiere, which originally ran last Sunday.
Back to back episodes of “Hollywood Game Night” (NBC, 8 and 9 p.m.) brings Henry Winkler, Angie Harmon, Nate Berkus, Erika Christensen, Michelle Trachtenberg and Padma Lakshmi, among others.
“Antiques Road Show” (PBS, 8 p.m., check local listings) pulls into Detroit and finds plenty of parking.
Stassi is mad at Kristen on “Vanderpump Rules” (Bravo, 9 p.m.).
The Alaskan Hotel & Bar in Juneau was never the same after the bear got in there, according to the fourth season premiere of “Hotel Impossible” (Travel, 10 p.m.), which tries to turn it around.
Pam is the target of the Yakuza on “Archer” (FX, 10 p.m.).
Two films of searching: “Dude, Where’s My Car?” (Encore, 8 p.m.) and “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” (Encore, 9:30 p.m.).
It’s always fun to see “Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life” (Sundance, 9 p.m.).
Problem engagements occur in the movies tonight on Turner Classic Films: “The Age of Innocence” (8 p.m.), “Small Town Girl” (10:30 p.m.),“Dear Heart” (12:30 a.m.), “Reunion in France” (2:30 a.m.) and “The Mikado” (4:30 a.m.).
Men’s college hoops include Duke at Pittsburgh (ESPN, 7 p.m.), Oklahoma State at Oklahoma (ESPN, 9 p.m.) and Villanova at Georgetown (Fox Sports 1, 9 p.m.).
In NHL action, it’s Sabres at Penguins (NBC Sports Network, 7:30 p.m.) and Kings at Sharks (NBC Sports Network, 10 p.m.).
