A documentary tonight tries to find out as it follows the company’s creative director Frida Giannini for a year a a half leading up to new line, soaking up trends in music, art and movies in “Gucci: The Director” (Showtime, 8 p.m.). James Franco produced the documentary that was directed by Christina Voros.

How can we miss him if he won’t go away? Like a loyal canine Cesar Millan is back again with a more urgent show, “Cesar 911” (Nat Geo Wild, 9 p.m.) in which he tries to improve communities wracked by wild dogs. Send this guy to Sochi!

There is still some activity in Sochi, by the way, where the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games (NBC Sports, 11 a.m.) have their opening ceremony.

Innovations to shows — in shine and laces — are offered on a new “Shark Tank” (ABC, 9 p.m.).

With “Couples Therapy” over time for more counseling among non celebrity types on the second season of “Marriage Boot Camp” (WE tv, 9 pm.).

More examples of Matthew McConaughey contrasts: the 2005 movie “Sahara” (TMC, 8 p.m.) and the last couple episodes of  “True Detective” (HBO, 9 p.m.) before Sunday’s finale.

Animated features tonight includes “Planes” (Starz, 8 p.m.) and “How to Train Your Dragon” (FX, 8 and 10:30 p.m.).
