Zane-Holtz-and-D.J.-Cotrona-in-From-Dusk-Till-Dawn-the-series-as-Gecko-brothers_154817Robert Rodriguez turns his 1996 cult movie into a more regular thing with the new “From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series” (El Rey, 9 p.m.) in which the ruthless Gecko Brothers live again in the pulpy crime and vampire saga. There’s not much crossover in the original cast which paired George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino, but it does offer Don Johnson as a sheriff and Wilmer Valderrama in the cast.

D.J. Cotrona and Zane Holtz are the Gecko brothers; Eliza Gonzalez takes over the role of the legendary Santanico Pandemonium. Rodriguez is closely behind the adaptation, which is the lynchpin of an even more exciting operation — a whole network dedicated to his singular pulpy vision, full of Tarantino movies, kung fu, horror and other low down genre classics. Reality shows continue to sign up the most unappealing people, in the case of “Chrisley Knows Best” (USA, 10 and 10:30 p.m.) it’s a barely tolerable real estate millionaire dabbling in fashion who tries to rule his kids with an iron though awfully effeminate hand. He thinks he’s trying to protect his kids, but he only succeeds in making them cruder sooner.

The ambitious “24 Hours on Earth” (BBC America, 9 p.m.) looks through a day on the planet, but takes two episodes to do so. Matthew Macfayden narrates. It comes after a chapter of “The Blue Planet” (BBC America, 8 p.m.), narrated by David Attenborough.

The sixth season of “The Real Housewives of New York City” (Bravo, 9 p.m.) brings with it a new character, Kristen Taekman, a model originally from Farmington, Conn.
