Started with the traditional (though not factual) annual birthday salute to Louis Armstrong, before embarking on the whole big Fourth of July playlist. But there was also time to remember Bobby Womack, who died last week.
There were sets from two acts coming to town in coming weeks, B.B. King and the Go-Go’s, and a big chunk of Everly Brothers covers courtesy of my friend Jeff Peter. I think I played more Frankie Valli than he did tonight at the Capitol. And the only fireworks were going on outside the window of the studio.
