Uzo Aduba won outstanding guest actress in a comedy for her portrayal of Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on Netflix’ “Orange is the New Black” and President Obama’s interview with Zach Galifianakis on the web-only “Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis” won “Oustanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program” in the Creative Arts Emmys given Saturday in Los Angeles.
The awards, meant to clear the deck of the dozens of largely technical awards before the glitzy televised event Aug. 25, also named “Bob’s Burgers” best animated show (though Harry Shearer of “The Simpsons” got “outstanding character voice-over performance”). “Deadliest Catch” won “outstanding unstructured reality program”; “Shark Tank” won “outstanding structured reality program.” And Jane Lynch got outstanding host for a reality show for her work on “Hollywood Game Night.”
Alison Janney won her fifth Emmy — not for her work on “Mom” but as a guest actress as Margaret Scully on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex.” Joe Morton won outstanding guest actor in a drama for his role on “Scandal.” Jimmy Fallon got an Emmy for his “Saturday Night Live” hosting stint as best guest actor in a comedy.
