It didn’t matter that NBC’s “The Sound of Music Live!” a year ago got mixed reviews. Enough people watched it live (even to see it fall on its face) to make it worth trying to stage a second live musical. Tonight’s attempt is “Peter Pan Live!” (NBC, 8 p.m.) a restaging of the old Mary Martin musical from 60 years ago.
In the lead is Allison Williams, looking like she’s on a fever dream from “Girls,” zipping around on a wires. Odder casting than Brian Williams’ daughter may be Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. There’s a lot of technical cues for the show that includes a CGI Tinkerbell. So a lot can go wrong. Gentlemen, begin your tweets.

The comedian once known as the Weasel documents a sobering tour of small venues in the Midwest while worrying about his ill mother back in L.A. in the self-produced documentary “Pauly Shore Stands Alone” (Showtime, 8 p.m.).
“Surviving Exodus” (Animal Planet, Discovery, Investigation Discovery, TLC, Science, 8 p.m.) is a multi-network effort at Discovery meant to sell the upcoming Moses movie “Exodus: Gods and Kings” opening in theaters Dec. 12. So Aron Paul, who’s in the movie narrates the one-hour infomercial that will poach many Discovery stars including Animal Planet’s Dave Salmoni, Terry Schappert of “Dude You’re Screwed” and Science Channel’s Hakeem Oluseyi.
A 29-film, Thursday night showcase of Christmas movies on Turner Classic Movies begins with a few that don’t necessarily sound like Christmas movies: “Remember the Night” (8 p.m.), “Meet John Doe” (10 p.m.), “In the Good Old Summertime” (12:15 a.m.), “Meet Me in St. Louis” (2:15 a.m.) and “All Mine to Give” (4:15 a.m.).
