RadioCPRBack on the air after a two week break, I return to find the station at a new frequency for the first time in 16 years. Because we thought a new commercial station was coming in on the old 97.5 FM, they moved to 101.7. And guess what? Nobody moved into 97.5. So the static you hear there is permanent for now anyway.

One oh one would seem like uptown, but things remained the same at the studio: The turntables weren’t connected. At any rate, managed to have a full show, saluting the Marvin Gaye Estate to this week’s $7.4 million windfall for being copied by last year’s biggest single, a bit of James Brown, and a whole lot of Bjork, in honor of her new album, which we don’t yet have.

We were missing Friday’s show by Phil and Dave Alvin at the Birchmere, so we played a lot of them and their old band the Blasters just to pour salt in the wound. It moved, quite predictably, to a huge block of The Pogues in honor of the impending St. Paddy’s Day. Here’s what I played on the radio tonight:
