The dumb competition that remains a recurring time-waster on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC, 11:35 p.m.) has now become its own show, with the Fallon-produced “Lip Sync Battle” (Spike TV, 10 p.m.). Again, celebrities take on recorded pop songs, now with even more elaborate stagecraft, as when Anne Hathaway mouths a Miley Cyrus song and jumps on a wrecking ball.
Instead of going up against Fallon, they’ll be up against one another. It’s Hathaway against Emily Blunt, for example, as well as John Krasinski vs. Anna Kendrick and Queen Latifah vs. Marlon Wayans. L.L. Cool J hosts; Chrissy Teigen gives commentary.
The serious efforts of Houston pastor Kevin Brown and his organization Passage to Freedom to talk women out of prostitution and sex trafficking sounds more like a game show when he says he’ll try and convince them in “8 Minutes” (A&E, 10 p.m.).
“The Slap” (NBC, 10 p.m.) ends its unusual but interesting little run, with some drama no doubt.
Carter jumps bail on “American Crime” (ABC, 10 p.m.).
A Congressman reconnects with his father on death row on “Scandal” (ABC, 9 p.m.).
The weakest of the original shows on Sundance channel, “The Red Road” (Sundance, 10 p.m.) returns for a second season.
A teacher is found dead in an old bookstore on “Bones” (Fox, 8 p.m.).
Leonard and Sheldon consider visiting George Lucas on “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
Movies about the ministry are on Turner Classic Movies tonight with “One Foot in Heaven” (8 p.m.), “One Man’s Way” (10 p.m.), “Stars in My Crown” (midnight), “The Little Minister” (1:45 a.m.) and “The Sandpiper” (3:45 a.m.).
Who wins the NIT tournament? It’s between Miami vs. Stanford (ESPN, 9 p.m.). It’s preceded by a slam dunk and three point tournament (ESPN, 7 p.m.).
NBA action includes Miami at Cleveland (TNT, 8 p.m.) and Phoenix at Golden State (TNT, 10:30 p.m.). Hockey has Boston at Detroit (NBC Sports, 7:30 p.m.).
In spring baseball, it’s Yankees at Detroit (ESPN, 1 p.m.), White Sox at Arizona (MLB, 4 p.m.), Boston at Minnesota (MLB, 7 p.m.) and Oakland at San Francisco (MLB, 10 p.m.).
