The first German-language series on U.S. TV is a spy caper set in the Reagan-era East Germany. “Deutschland 83” (Sundance, 11 p.m.) has the same kind of Cold War period vibe as “The Americans” with the extra authenticity of being actually shot in Germany. There, Nena sings of “99 Luftballoons” and Reagan threatens with talk of evil empire. A young man is recruited to be sent to West Germany as spy for a series that looks smart and stylish. (That an American general would have learned German, though, makes one pause).
The bearded dudes from “Duck Dynasty” prepare a new Las Vegas musical about their overhyped (and now fading in popularity) life in the special “Duck Commander: The Musical” (A&E, 9 p.m.). A Duggar dance spectacular is probably next.
Also in Vegas tonight: “MasterChef” (Fox, 8 p.m.), where remaining cooks have to make food for more than 100 nightclub performers (and maybe the Robertsons too).
“Ripper Street” (BBC America, 10 p.m.) reaches a season finale in which a journalist is killed.
“Born Without Limbs” (TLC, 9 p.m.), about an Australian named Nick Vujicic, is self-explanatory.
Stupidity continues unabated on “Bullseye” (Fox, 9 p.m.) just as meanness does on “The Briefcase” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
The theme for body painters on “Skin Wars” (GSN, 9 p.m.) is camouflage.
Charo switches places with Jill Whelan of “The Love Boat” on “Celebrity Wife Swap” (ABC, 10 p.m.).
The Wednesday night salute to pin-up girls on Turner Classic Movies continues with Jayne Mansfield in “Kiss Them for Me” ((8 p.m.), Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” (10 p.m.), Mamie Van Doren in “Untamed Youth” (11:45 p.m.), Diana Dors in “I Married a Woman” (1:15 a.m.), Cleo Moore in “Bait” (2:45 a.m.) and Bridgitte Bardot in “And God Created Woman” (4:15 a.m.).
FIFA Women’s World Cup matches today include Mexico vs. France (Fox, 4 p.m.), England vs. Colombia (Fox Sports 1, 4 p.m.), Costa Rica vs. Brazil (Fox Sports 1, 7 p.m.) and South Korea vs. Spain (Fox Sports 2, 7 p.m.).
It’s Florida vs. Miami (ESPN, 8 p.m.) in the College World Series.
