You have to believe that Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig decided to do a Lifetime movie as kind of show biz investigation or art project. The promos suggest they play it straight in the story of a successful couple that hires a surrogate mother (Jessica Lowndes) who drives a wedge between them. Without the star casting, “A Deadly Adoption” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.) sounds like it would be just another Lifetime movie. And with these two comedy veterans in the cast? They may approach it so straight-faced in the promos, it may play like one, too.
There is generally less second-guessing with the strictly conventional “Perfect Match” (Hallmark, 9 p.m.), a new TV romance starring Danica McKellar, Paul Greene and Linda Gray about the mix of wedding planner’s own test with an event planner, part of a month of wedding-themed original movies.
