What qualifies him to give advice to anybody about anything? Who knows? But he stars in the new “Sex with Brody” (E!, 10:30 p.m.), an adaptation of his podcast with therapist Mike Dow, in giving advice to celebrities. His first is Christina Milian.

“Masters of Illusion” (The CW, 8 p.m.) begins a second season showcasing magicians, which I thought was never very convincing on television in the first place.

With “Go Set a Watchman,” her long awaited prequel to “A Kill a Mockingbird” about to be published, the biography of Harper Lee on “American Masters” (PBS, 9 p.m., check local listings) is updated accordingly.

A new standup special, “Chris Tucker Live” (Netflix, streaming) begins online.

It’s not the Summer Olympics or anything, but hey, the 17th Pan American Games (ESPN, 8 p.m.) does involve 41 nations and it has an opening parade in the ceremonies tonight in Toronto.

A finale comes to the miniseries spoof “The Spoils Before Dying” (IFC, 9 p.m.).

“Treehouse Masters” (Animal Planet, 10 p.m.) returns for a fourth season, still trying to figure out its connection to animals.

Are there racist sharks? The latest film of Shark Week sounds like it may investigate “Shark Clans” (Discovery, 10 p.m.). Earlier, there is “Sharks of the Shadowland” (Discovery, 9 p.m.).

Whole network episodes of “Big Brother” (POP, 9 and 10 p.m.) are being rerun on cable.

Jane Lynch is guest on “The Soup” (E!, 10 p.m.).

There are many questions about the Horseman of Famine on “The Messengers” (The CW, 9 p.m.), one of which may be: Why the name?

The original “Despicable Me” (ABC Family, 9 p.m.) is still probably better than the current offshoot “Minions.”

The Brad Pitt movie that relives the days when Greece didn’t have a care in the world: “Troy” (BBC America, 8 p.m.).

ComicCon isn’t a bad time to start rerunning “Gotham” (Fox, 9 p.m.).
