Hollywood action films and video games helped shape Matthew Van Dyke, a sheltered only child from Baltimore who, after graduation from Georgetown, began a series of filmed motorcycle trips as a way to jolt him into manhood. The photography was beautiful but he was hampered by his own OCD and rootlessness, which ended once he arrived in Libya. There, among rebels, he found friends and a cause — as well as six months in prison.
His compelling footage is assembled for Marshall Curry’s “Point and Shoot,” making its premiere on “POV” (PBS, 10 p.m., check local listings), a film that also raises the notion of cameras being as important as guns when revolution is happening.

“Devious Maids” (Lifetime, 9 p.m.) go after a Beverly Hills murderer in the season finale.
It’s also the season finale for “Murder in the First” (TNT, 10 p.m.), where a verdict is reached in the big trial.
