The World Series has been pretty good so far, but another race that has often been just as fascinating this fall has been the presidential campaigning season, earning big ratings on cable.
Tonight, the third Republican Primary Debate (CNBC, 8 p.m.) reunites the large GOP field of Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, John Kasich, Ron Paul and Chris Christie in Boulder, Colo. Moderator John Harwood (who elicited the “oops” answer from Rick Perry last time around), will be joined by Carl Quintanilla and Becky Quick to ask questions that center on economic issues. Unlike the CNN debate, it’s only slated to last two hours.
The candidates who haven’t scraped together enough support to make it on the main stage (and haven’t yet dropped out) get to participate in the earlier debate at 6 p.m.: Bobby Jindal, George Pataki, Rick Santorum and Lindsay Graham. One announced candidate who hasn’t enough backing to get on even that debate: Jim Gilmore.

Long before “Ghostbusters” Mickey Goofy and Donald were the people you called to hunt haints and spirits in the classic Halloween cartoon “Lonesome Ghosts” (TCM, 1 a.m.) from 1937, which predates “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” by nearly 30 years.
It’s part of a night of treasures from the Disney vault on Turner Classic Movies (instead of, say, the Disney channel). It begins in sets of three: “Three Little Wolves” (TCM, 8 p.m.), “Three Little Pigs” and coming shortly after, “The Big Bad Wolf.” One of the first animated Disney features to end up as a theme park ride, “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad” (TCM, 8:45 p.m.) comes next, followed by “The Old Mill” (TCM, 10 p.m.), an episode of “Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” (TCM, 10:15 p.m.) called “The Plausible Impossible,” “Escape to Witch Mountain” (TCM, 11:15 p.m.), “Frankenweenie “ (TCM, 1:15 a.m.), “Mr. Boogedy” (TCM, 2 a.m.), “The Ghosts of Buxley Hall” (TCM, 3 a.m.) and “Return from Witch Mountain” (TCM, 5 a.m.).
