The second season comes for “The Returned” (Sundance, 10 p.m.) and could it have come on a more suitable night? It starts six months after the first ended, with the valley flooded, the Hoarde of undead taking over and some inhabitants staying behind in hopes of finding loved ones. And everybody’s still speaking French!
So far in the World Series, the team playing at home has won. Bet accordingly, as Game 4 of the series has Kansas City at the New York Mets (Fox, 8 p.m.), with Royals up 2-1.
It plays opposite the network prime time football game, Notre Dame at Temple (ABC, 8 p.m.).
It’s a night for costumes, so there’s a replay of this week’s premiere of “Supergirl” (CBS, 8 p.m.).
All the scary movies in the world are on today. Turner Classic Movies have a dozen: “Doctor X” (7 a.m.), “White Zombie” (8:30 a.m.), Francis Ford Coppola’s “Dementia 13” (9:45 a.m.), Roman Polanski’s “The Fearless Vampire Killers” (11:15 a.m.), “Homicidal” (1:15 p.m.), “The Tingler” (3 p.m.), “House of Wax” (4:30 p.m.), “The Devil’s Bride” (6:15 p.m.), “The Picture of Dorian Gray” (8 p.m.), “Curse of the Demon” (10 p.m.), “Dead of Night” (11:30 p.m.), “Mark of the Vampire” (1:30 a.m.).
It’s followed by nearly an hour and a half of short films made by David Lynch, some of which predate even “Eraserhead” including “The Amputee Version 1” (TCM, 2:45 a.m.) and including “Six Men Getting Sick,” “The Amputee Version 2” and eight of his “DumbLand” animated shorts from his personal website.
A double play of “Hocus Pocus” (ABC Family, 7 and 9:15 p.m.) is paired with “Sleepy Hollow” (ABC Family, 11:30 p.m.).
The whole “Halloween” cycle is on AMC with “Halloween” (AMC, 4:30 p.m.), “Halloween II” (AMC, 6:30 p.m.), “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” (AMC, 8:30 p.m.) and “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers” (AMC, 10:30 p.m.)
The 2003 remake of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (MTV, 7:45 p.m.) is paired with “Texas Chainsaw 3D” (MTV, 10 p.m.). A third choice, chainsaw-wise, is the prequel “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning” (Syfy, 11:30 p.m.).
All of the 25 editions of “Treehouse of Horror” on “The Simpsons” (FXX,11:30 a.m.) are shown in order until midnight.
The Fox series gets a replay of its six episodes so far on cable “Scream Queens” (FX, 6 p.m.).
These films, playing opposite one another, sounds more like a tie score: “Scary Movie 3” (TBS, 11 p.m.); “Scream 3” (WGN America, 11 p.m.).

Interested to see what the Bugs Bunny defense is for a woman who claims the 2007 shooting of her husband was an accident, on “48 Hours” (CBS, 10 p.m.). Deaths in a commune over a decade is investigated on “Dateline” (NBC, 8 p.m.).
Smokey Robinson performs on “Legends: OWN at the Apollo” (OWN, 10 p.m.) and Joss Stone joins him.
“The Purge: Anarchy” (HBO, 8 p.m.) gets its premium cable debut.
