A salute to Allen Toussaint, the New Orleans great who died last week, led to his work with Elvis Costello, she of E.C. himself and the two songs he wrote for Darlene Love’s new album.
Played some Jonathan Richman after seeing him in Pittsburgh earlier this month, and some from Keith Richards’ new album, his last one and his stuff from the Stones. Then “Like a Rolling Stone” a handful of times from the latest Bob Dylan bootleg release. Some valentines to Paris ended the show, and I was reminded that the last time I was in Paris, on my honeymoon many years ago, we saw Allen Toussaint play a ritzy hotel.
