Melissa George stars as a fast-living, fantastically accomplished heart surgeon who must also handle motherhood and a romantic life as well as put up with her live-in ex husband. They’ve been fiddling quite a while with “Heartbeat” (NBC, 9 p.m.), which is based on the life of Dr. Kathy Magliano and her book “Heart Matters.” Dave Annable and Don Hany are love interests, but a bigger star, Amy Brenneman, serves only as one of the producers.
The new “Billion Dollar Buyer” (CNBC, 10 p.m.) stars Landry CEO Tilman J. Fertitta as a one man “Shark Tank,” looking at different companies and properties in which to invest.
Concussions or not, a third season starts for the tiny football players of “Friday Night Tykes: Steel Country” (Esquire, 10 p.m.), which takes place in Western Pennsylvania.
The biggest spring baseball game in the hemisphere this season is the one this afternoon in Havana with Tampa Bay at Cuban National Team (ESPN, 1:30 p.m.). The visiting U.S. President and his first family will attend as will Cuban leader Raul Castro and baseball greats, from Luis Tiant, who will throw out the first pitch, and Derek Jeter. Also in spring baseball today: Dodgers at Kansas City (MLB, 9 p.m.).
Because tonight’s primaries are out West — Republicans in Arizona and Utah caucuses; Democrats in Idaho as well as Arizona and Utah — results on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and the rest aren’t likely to be in until 9 p.m., and in the case of Arizona, 10 p.m.
Peter Gallagher guest stars as Schmidt’s father on a new “New Girl” (Fox, 8 p.m.).
Casey Wilson guest stars as a rival mom on “Fresh Off the Boat” (ABC, 8 p.m.).
